The original kitchen was blocked from the living room by a wall and an ill-devised peninsula. We worked with the architect and contractor to create an open floor plan for the main level by removing the existing wall and reconfiguring the layout of the kitchen. “I want to have big family meals” was one of our guiding directives from this homeowner. She was in love with the concept of an oversized stove so we incorporated it into the design and added additional pantry space as well as an island in the middle of the kitchen. By using two different countertops, one for the base cabinets and one for the island, we were able to create a central accent piece that showcased her new kitchen.
