Serving as a company’s D.C. home-base, this condo was used by traveling employees and principals. The question became: How could this two bedroom condo be suitable for work, be comfortable for relaxing, have universal appeal, and provide a hotel-like experience without breaking the budget? The solution was versatility. To achieve this, we implemented neutral furniture elements with bold accent pieces. Oranges and reds had been introduced in the building’s lobby—we carried that color-scheme through the condo and complemented it with blues and teals for a calming effect. (In the future, these accents can easily be updated to refresh the space.) For work, two chaises provide room for guests to use laptops while kicking back. For play, a table with leaves can seat up to 6 should entertaining be on the menu. Ultimately, this space accounts for durability and aesthetics while thoughtfully allocating resources.
